MERRILLVILLE, Ind. (March 3, 2021) Merrillville will be the location of a second Lake County Amazon delivery station, the company announced today. Amazon plans to create up to 300 new jobs by Spring of 2022.

“Amazon Logistics, which has several existing and planned facilities across Indiana, will occupy a 141,360 square foot facility on a 35-acre tract of land at the Ameriplex at the Crossroads Business Park. The new facility will enable the company to prepare customer orders for the last-mile delivery to Region customers. Amazon plans to be fully operational in Merrillville in the late fall of 2021. We look forward to hosting this amazing company and embrace all of the potential that they will bring to Merrillville”, said Town Council President Rick Bella.

“It was a pleasure working together with the Professional Staff at Seefried Properties and Kimly-Horn Consulting on this project. With the Towns investment in new infrastructure inside Ameriplex combined with Seefried’s investment in the expansion of the Broadway corridor between 96th and 98th Avenue, this project has created hundreds of new jobs and set the groundwork for future economic growth in the area”, said Town Engineering Administrator Steve King.

“The collaboration and communication between the Amazon developmental team and the planning and building department allowed staff to provide information that streamlined the application process. It was a pleasure to work with Seefried Properties and Kimly-Horn Consults on this project. Their team was on point from site plan approval to the issuance of the building permit”, said Merrillville Building and Planning Director Shelia Shine.

“As President of the Merrillville Redevelopment Commission and Ward 6 Councilman, I have had the pleasure of watching the Ameriplex at the Crossroads Tech Park literally grow from the ground up. The addition of the Amazon facility to the park is the crown jewel for the Town of Merrillville from an economic development standpoint. To have a Fortune 100 company located in Merrillville will enhance the park and draw in other firms to the Park, which will benefit the Town for decades to come”, said Ward 6 Councilman Shawn Pettit.

“Town Leadership and our Professional Staff along with our Strategic Partners worked tirelessly to make this Project a reality. Merrillville is experiencing a surge in economic growth and Amazon is a welcome addition to our Town. Amazon’s planned investment of over $30M in land, building, and equipment will generate hundreds of thousands of dollars in new tax revenues annually and result in the creation of 100 temporary and at least 300 new permanent jobs”, added Town Manager Patrick Reardon.
